The Chinese Retail Scene
Richard Baker, head of operations for Tesco North China, briefed the Irish Network on developments in China's retail scene and how Tesco is tapping strong growth accross the country while also coping with a stronger emphasis in China on food safety. After a few hours of lively discussion we presented Richard with the traditional Irish Network speakers' gift, a laptop case hand-crafted by migrant women for Brand Nu, the well known local social enterprise.

Nuclear power expert Arnaud Lefevre-Baril, CEO of Dynabond Powertech Co gave the large gathering a fascinating overview of the atomic energy industry in China and globally and where the sector is headed in the wake of the Fukushima reactor disaster in March 2011.
